Hiking in the Ashland WatershedAs you may have read in the papers (November 7, 2011) or heard on JPR interviews, or seen at our public meetings, Ashland Woodland and Trails Association has been extremely busy producing a Trails Master Plan for the Forest Service lands in the Ashland watershed. After more than a year of work, we have released the first version of this plan and you can read it here (124 MB).

The next step in this effort is to pay for the Forest Service experts who will undertake a NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) study. This process involves soils engineers, botanists, hydrologists, and several other “ists” and will cost close to $100,000. AWTA is on the hook for half of that amount, and we have begun to fund-raise.

A few years ago, we stopped asking for AWTA dues. You liked what we were doing, but we really had very few expenses (we don’t pay ourselves), so we really didn’t need your money. Now we do. We’ve already raised close to $30,000 with events, grants and donations. Now we need the last push to complete our portion.

AWTA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our EIN is 48-1263710 and our Oregon Charitable Registration # is 31897. Your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Some of you have already donated and thank you!
