This is a mostly downhill ride with a cross-country flair. From the Mt Ashland parking lot, head down the Bull Gap trail (for the first half-mile it is double-track, then single-track). At the Bull Gap trailhead head up Lower Bull Gap trail. After ~2.5 miles, look for Missing Links trail and follow this down to the Four Corners TH. Head directly north–straight–to find the Catwalk trail. After an initial technical section, the trail becomes old road bed for a bit before heading into some longer switchback turns with bermed turns. Catwalk terminates in the multi-use Toothpick trail; turn left (west) to follow this relatively flat trail to Lamb Saddle where you can join the Caterpillar trail (also multi-use). Turn right onto Lizard–and then cross FS Rd 2060 to continue on Caterpillar to Rabbit Hole. Rabbit Hole is a short flowy connector to the White Rabbit TH where you cross FS 2060 again to join the Alice in Wonderland Trail. This old roadbed continues to BTI, where you ride a twisty bermy descent to the Waterline trail and back to the Witzend TH.

Pedestrians often hike Toothpick, Caterpillar, Alice in Wonderland and Waterline trails (they are multi-use).
