Hiking in the Ashland Watershed

Ashland Woodlands and Trails Association spent several years developing the Trails Master Plan for the Forest Service lands in the Ashland watershed. AWTA paid close to $50,000 for the Forest Service experts to undertake a NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) study. The process involved soil engineers, botanists, hydrologists, and several other experts. That project was one of our biggest expenses.

Recently, expenses have included excavation service for the building of the new Jabberwocky Trail, new tools, and new hardhats for our trail building volunteers. We also treat our volunteers to pizza and beer after they put in a six hour day of trail building.

We do not ask for AWTA dues. We fund raise through two annual events: The Mount Ashland Hillclimb and The Bandersnatch 5K/10M races, and we are grateful for the generous contributions of donations.
