Routes

Ashland Watershed Area Hikes and Runs

Below are some Ashland area routes organized by distance and cumulative vertical. Most start near the top of Lithia Park near the “swimming reservoir”, either at the parking area at Witzend (aka Bandergate) or the parking area at the top of Granite St. NOTE: add 3.5-4 miles to each of these if you’re starting downtown at “the Plaza” or Rogue Valley Runners. For trail conditions, see Hiking Project, but use your own judgement. All measurements are approximate. Carry a map. If you see an error or have constructive criticism, email Torsten.

NOTES:

  • I’ve only included legal, sanctioned trails. Basically, if a trail has a name on the map and a sign then it is most likely an approved trail. If there is no name on the map and, more importantly, no sign, then it is almost certainly a rogue trail. Some of these are on private lands.
  • Witzend currently has no sign, coming soon.
  • Mileage and elevation gain may be rough. In some cases, I knowingly used a slightly incorrect OpenStreet route (e.g., upper Wonder).
  • Click on the green link to view a map. You can view the route, view a course profile, print, download the gpx file for use with various off-line phone (Gaia, Motion-X, etc) apps and computer applications, or download a geo-referenced PDF that can be used with a free app called Avenza, which can also be used off-line (no phone service required).

Coming maybe:

  • particularly scenic routes
  • local race routes
  • individual pages with  descriptions (probably not)
