Mt Ashland to town via Bullgap and Lower Bullgap, Missing Links, Catwalk, Martys, Lizard and Jabberwocky

   – Distance: 11.8 miles
   – Min/max elev.: 2217’/6569′
   – Elev. gain/loss: 609’/-4961′

This is a mostly downhill ride with a smorgasbord of cross-country riding, technical and steep, and some flowy and bermy. The most notable climb is on the Lower Bull Gap trail, but most of it is done in a half a mile. From the Mt Ashland parking lot, head down the Bull Gap trail (for the first half-mile it is double-track, then single-track). At the Bull Gap trailhead head up Lower Bull Gap trail. After ~2.5 miles, look for Missing Links trail and follow this down to the Four Corners TH. Head directly north–straight–to find the Catwalk trail. After a bit of technical section, look to your left for the Marty’s trail. Follow this gently uphill and then proceed downhill to join Caterpillar. Again, follow gently uphill before you turn right onto Lizard. Lizard in turn dumps you right into the start of Jabberwocky which will take you to Waterline and the Witzend TH.

Pedestrians often hike Bull Gap, Caterpillar and Waterline trails (they are multi-use). Marty’s–an advanced biking trail– is still in an improvement phase (as of 11/30/19); don’t assume the trail is the same as you last rode it.
